Boys don't cry/Three Imaginary Boys

so, i may as well say it here, the cure is my favourite band of all time.  Sure, i've loved many others, but i'll always go back to the Cure...no matter what....they have been around since at least 1979 (maybe a bit before) and still making records...and good ones at that...it's true, there are some albums that i don't completely love, but i'd say the tract record is quite astounding...i'll always love all the eighties albums the best, beginning with this one:

the cure's first album (US release) 1979

First album (UK release) 1979

what all can be said?  this album has some of my favourite cure tracks: boys don't cry, jumping someone else's train, fire in cairo, accuracy, three imaginary boys...of course, i'm mostly speaking of the US release, since that's the one i personally own...

my first exposure to the cure was 120 minutes on MTV back in the mid-eighties...i saw the videos for boys don't cry and just like heaven (1987?) i bought Staring at the Sea some time after...loved that tape (yes, i said tape) i think the tape started with Killing an Arab, Boys don't cry, jumping someone else's train, a forest, primary, a walk...so good...although i never understood killing an arab...i learned later it is loosely based off the stranger by albert camus

personally, i think my favorite cure albums are (not in order) boys don't cry, kiss me kiss me kiss me, disintegration, seventeen seconds, and faith, and recently i discovered blood flowers is also quite good.

Sixtoo: Jackals and Vipers

Hi all,
i want to tell you all about a great album that came out in 2007 from ninja tune.
From the very opening track, this album is top-notch...i can seriously listen to this over and over again (and i have) instrumental hip-hop at it's finest...oh yeh, the album is Sixtoo's Jackals and Vipers in Envy of Man.
honestly there didn't even need to be track breaks...i listen all the way through...i rarely, if ever skip a track...

this is so close to being the perfect album...i don't think i can think of anything that i don't like about this one...as far as i have read/researched, this album is a patchwork of a lot of live-playing and performances.
this is one of my favorite albums...

this link has alot of info about this album....i highly recommend the videos, it will give you a taste of the album and some info on sixtoo and this album

so, if you are so inclined, you should at the very least check out the links....i think you'll be impressed

pieces,
dyl

remember these records?

#1 here goes

hi all, as you can see i'm starting a new one...i've been digging into some of my older music these days and thought i'd share my (re)found discoveries with those who may like that sort of thing...

first of all, i will appear kind of schitzophrenic in my musical taste...i will probably do a lot of hip hop/rap, but i will also have alot of other types/genres...so, if my first few posts don't cover your type of music, i most likely will get to it eventually...also, keep in mind that this is delving into my own collection...you are more than welcome to make suggestions...i will do some reviews on tapes/records/cd's that i have and maybe some spotlight type things to highlight artists that you might like...i'll take suggestions...i always like to check out new music...

aiiiight!
